(Petawawa, Ontario) The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a serious fatal two vehicle collision on Hwy 17 just west of Driftwood Park Road in Head Clara Maria Twp. The collision was reported at approximately 10:57 am today.
A car travelling westbound on Highway 17 near Driftwood Provincial Park struck a tractor-trailer that travelling eastbound on Highway 17. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at scene.
P/C John Riendeau is the investigating officer. Ontario Provincial Police Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation. The investigation is continuing.
Hwy 17 is closed. Due to the location of the collision, an alternate detour route is not available. The OPP are asking motorists to avoid the area until further notice.
