(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment along with the Norfolk County Fire Department and Norfolk County Paramedics, were called to an 8th Concession, North Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Friday, September 20, 2013 at approximately 2:23 p.m., the Norfolk County OPP responded to a tobacco kiln that was reported to be on fire.
Members of the Norfolk County Fire Department arrived on scene and located a fully engulfed tobacco kiln. The fire was brought under control by the attending fire fighters who quickly extinguished the fire preventing it from spreading to surrounding kilns. The total loss of the tobacco kiln and tobacco product is estimated at approximately $46,000 dollars.
A 64 year old male was subsequently transported to the Norfolk General Hospital for smoke inhalation.
