OPP ISSUE 72 HOUR SUSPENSION NOTICE

(GOGAMA) – A Gogama OPP officer has issued a 72 hour driver’s licence suspension to a 43 year old Sudbury, Ontario man stemming from a routine traffic stop which occurred yesterday (08 Oct), on Hwy 144, near Gogama.

The OPP officer had occasion to stop a 2000 Mazda passenger car for an alleged traffic violation.

Based on observations made by the OPP officer, a quantity of open liquor was seized by the officer.

The driver of the vehicle was required to provide a breath sample into an approved screening device.

Based on results of these tests, the man’s driver’s licence was suspended for 72 hours.

Trevor ALJOE, 43 of Sudbury has been charged with:

– Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

– Drive Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act

The vehicle was removed from the scene by tow truck.

The South Porcupine OPP reminds all motorists that taking to the road after the consumption of any alcoholic beverages can have severe consequences.

Driving is a skill that requires a sharp mind and keen faculties. The consumption of alcohol impairs a person’s ability to drive and places all motorists in undue jeopardy.
