Garth HAY Trashes Apartment And Gets Arrested

(Havelock Belmont Methuen Township, ON) – On Tuesday October 8 at approximately 2 pm members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to a disturbance at an apartment building on George Street in the Village of Havelock.

Upon arriving at the residential building officers learned from other residents, and Peterborough Housing staff that a male tenant had been damaging property in the building, and was currently throwing items around in his apartment.

Officers attended the apartment and encountered a male who had locked himself in the apartment while he was breaking windows and damaging the interior of the residence.

The male continued to act out violently and officers were able to gain entry to the apartment at which time the suspect became aggressive and attempted to assault the officers. The officers were required to use a Controlled Energy Weapon to assist in the safe apprehension of the male.

The suspect was identified as 56 year old Garth HAY on Havelock.

Hay was arrested and charged with, Uttering Treats to Cause Death, Mischief over $5000, Assault to Resist Peace Officer, and Failing to Comply with Probation.

Hay is held for a Bail Hearing for September 9, 2012. In Peterborough Provincial Courts.
