(ORILLIA, ON) – At approximately 11:20 a.m., on September 27, 2013, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a witness who observed a man carrying what she believed to be a long gun. He was observed walking northbound on Albert Street in the City of Orillia.
Several officers from the Orillia Detachment, Central Region Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine attended to the area where the suspicious male was last seen.
Orillia OPP would like to advise at this time, that the identity of the male has been discovered. Investigation revealed that a 33 year old Orillia man had been carrying an air gun down the street while walking home. Police interviewed the male and have confirmed that the gun in question was an air rifle. Police are confident that there was no threat to public safety and no charges are pending.
