OPP ARREST TWO IN STOLEN VEHICLE

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Bracebridge detachment members located and arrested two people in a vehicle, shortly after it had been reported stolen.

On October 9, 2013 at approximately 2:30 pm a vehicle was taken from a parking lot located on Muskoka Road 118 West, in the Town of Bracebridge.

The members of the Bracebridge OPP and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) quickly located the stolen vehicle travelling Highway 11 Southbound into the Town of Gravenhurst. The officers activated the emergency lights and siren to stop the vehicle but the vehicle failed to stop and was followed for a short time. The vehicle was safely stopped on Highway 11 Northbound near Doe Lake Road in the town of Gravenhurst and the two occupants of the vehicle were arrested after a short foot pursuit.

In searching the vehicle approximately $2000 worth of property was recovered.

Melanie BUTTLER 27 year-old female of Muskoka Lakes Township and Kenneth SHERECK 40 year-old male of Barrie will attend the Bracebridge Ontario Court on October 10, 2013 to answer to their charges:

Possession of property obtained by crime
Theft of a motor vehicle
Fail to stop for police
