(LAKESHORE, ON) -On Monday, October 14, 2013, just before 6:00 pm, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers from Lakeshore were called to Wilder Road North in Lakeshore for a report of a motor vehicle collision that had just occurred.
Witnesses at the scene had observed a blue Chrysler Sebring strike another vehicle and fail to stop at the scene. The suspect vehicle proceeded further up the road and when it eventually stopped; witnesses took the keys from the vehicle so that the driver could not proceed any further.
No one was injured in the collision.
Officers arrived to find the driver of the vehicle in question exhibiting signs of impairment.
Gary TAYLOR, age 59 of Lakeshore, was arrested and charged with Care or Control While Impaired, Driving with More than 80 mgs of Blood Alcohol Content and Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident.
He will appear in a Windsor court on October 31, 2013.
While the OPP applauds the citizens in this incident who stepped in to assist and stop this driver from proceeding any further and harming anyone, police remind the public to ensure that their safety is not in jeopardy when doing so.
