(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ON)- The Town of New Tecumseth and the Nottawasga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to make the public aware of a new stop sign located on Main Street West and Tecumseth Street (Beeton) in the Town of New Tecumseth.
On October 18, 2013 Officers from Nottawasaga OPP were on hand to educated the motoring public for two hours, in that time frame, they gave 26 warnings to drivers regarding the new stop sign. The next day, Officers also did stop sign enforcement for two hours and during that timeframe issued six provincial offence notices and three warnings for fail to stop at stop signs. The fine according to the Highway Traffic Act for failing to stop at a stop sign is $110 and a three demerit point reduction.
Stop signs are placed in locations to help control traffic, generally found at the junction of two roads and where there may be pedestrians.
