(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police have investigated 4 separate collisions since Tuesday October 22, 2013 due to icy, snowy roads.
On Tuesday October 22, 2013 police investigated 3 separate collisions, the first at 9:50a.m on Highway 11 near Pevensey Road, Strong Township when a 2006 Chevrolet Impala struck a patch of snow and went into the ditch. The second collision was at 1:00p.m on Highway 510 near Highway 124, Magnetawan Township when a 2004 Honda struck a patch of loose snow and lost control and rolled into the west ditch. The third was at approximately 11:30p.m on Highway 11 at the Magnetawan River Bridge in Armour Township. The driver struck ice and hit a concrete guard rail. All three drivers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
On Saturday October 26, 2013 the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police investigated 1 collision due to slippery roads. At approximately 10:15a.m a 2005 Toyota Celica lost control in deep slush and drove off the roadway into the north side ditch. There were no injuries.
Police would like to remind motorists that temperatures are dropping below freezing and roads are getting slippery. Adjust your driving speed to the road and weather conditions and put winter tires on your vehicles.
