(Collingwood and The Blue Mountains, Ontario) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Unit recently conducted several safety checks on commercial motor vehicles in our area.
On the 30th of October 2013, officers inspected 17 commercial motor vehicles out of which 5 were put out of service, 2 had their plates removed and the officers also took the time to warn and inform drivers and owners on the safety requirements of their vehicles. These checks were for commercial vehicles however drivers in general, even personal vehicles, are reminded that they also have a responsibility to ensure that their vehicle(s) are safe or they too could face plate removals, have their vehicle impounded and possible charges for infractions.
