(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Monday December 08, 2014, shortly after 6:30 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Hwy. 7 and Perth Line 26.
Investigation revealed that a 2014 Dodge Ram van was driving north bound on Hwy 7 when it was struck on the passenger side by a 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup truck that was travelling west bound on Perth Line 26. The T bone type collision caused major damage to both vehicle and resulted in the contents of the van being strewn across the roadway. The debris which was made up of sheet metal type material forced the highway to be closed for a short period of time.
The Perth East Fire Department utilized their light tower to illuminate the scene and their personnel cleared the debris from the roadway.
The 45 year old male driver of the van, as well as the 19 year old male passenger, both St.Marys residents, sustained minimal injuries and did not require transport to hospital. The 41 year old male driver of the pickup truck, a Kitchener resident, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck has been charged with “fail to yield to traffic on through highwayâ€Â, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
This collision is another example of a crash that could have had fatal consequences. Stop signs need to be obeyed, be sure to “Stop and Lookâ€Â.
