Craig WARD – Drunk Driving, Breach

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On December 8, 2014 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a RIDE check program at the intersection of Highway 7 and Kawartha Lakes Road 36 that resulted in one driver being arrested for a drinking and driving related offence.

When the vehicle entered the RIDE program an officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol and subsequently administered a road side test.

Craig WARD, 29 years of age, of Lindsay, was arrested and charged with having care and control of a motor vehicle while having more than 80mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood contrary to the Criminal Code as well as with having open liquor in the vehicle, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Further investigation led to an additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on January 15, 2015.
