(COCHRANE) The Cochrane Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Town of Cochrane By-Law Department will be enforcing the new handicap parking by-law set fine of $300 upon persons or motorists who park in marked handicap designated parking spaces without the appropriate permit. Signage erected at these designated parking spaces clearly mark the boundaries with arrows along with the $300 fine advisory.
The recent change will put the Town of Cochrane up to parity with the Provincial Standard, utilized by other communities, and further ensure that persons with mobility issues have the appropriate parking spaces available to them.
The Cochrane OPP and the Cochrane By-Law Department will continue their daily patrols within the community in their effort to make sure the parking by-laws are respected and our roadways are safely enjoyed by all.
