Homeowner Grants Access To Computer And Loses $1,500

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a computer fraud at a South Drive, North, Simcoe Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, March 21 2015 at approximately 12:16 p.m., police received a call from a concerned homeowner after a call was received at their residence from a male advising that he was from Microsoft and needed access to their computer as it was infected with a virus.

Access was granted at which time the homeowner observed the unknown male accessing banking information and personal files. The resident allowed the male to remotely access their online banking information at which time approximately $1,500 dollars was removed from their financial account.
