(Selwyn Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were operating the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) vehicle in Selwyn Township just before 1:00pm Friday.
The ALPR vehicle alerted the officer to a possible stolen vehicle on Lakefield Road. The suspect vehicle stopped on the Fifth Line and the driver arrested. The investigation revealed that the female driver was operating her car with stolen plates attached.
Kirsten Jaime PAYNE (age 38) of Peterborough is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, in addition to numerous charges under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA). The accused is scheduled to appear in Peterborough Provincial Court on May 21, 2015.
