(GREY COUNTY, ON) – The Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to receive reports of property stolen from vehicles in the detachment area. Residents are urged to follow the guidelines found in the OPP Crime Prevention initiative “Lock it or Lose it”:
Always roll up the vehicle’s windows, lock the door and pocket the key
If you have a garage, use it. Lock the door as well as your vehicle
Always park your vehicle in a well-lit area.
Never leave valuable objects or packages in plain view.
Theft is a crime of opportunity, the harder it is to steal your property, the more likely it will be there the next time you want to use it.
Suspicious people or suspicious vehicles should be reported to police as soon as possible so that an officer can investigate.
The Grey County OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or send a web-tip to crimestop-gb.org, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
