OPP Aggressively Tackles Break and Enters

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sioux Lookout detachment has noticed an increase in break and enters, including thefts from outbuildings and from parked vehicles in the last few months. While no one has been injured Sioux Lookout OPP takes these recent incidents seriously and is committed to the safety of the public as well as property in Sioux Lookout. As such Sgt Jason Spooner recently conducted a crime prevention initiative where over 200 home owners were spoken to and pamphlets given out about how to protect their property. This involved numerous Sioux Lookout OPP officers including the Auxiliary Unit and Street Team members. Daily patrols in all affected areas have also been increased.

Suspects are yet to be identified. The public is reminded to Lock It or Lose It” as many of the reported thefts appear to target unlocked vehicles and buildings
