Update – Military Ordinance Found

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), County of Brant detachment were called to a residence on Beverly Street in St George in the County of Brant in response to a property owner locating a suspected World War 2 military ordnance while doing renovations.

The County of Brant OPP ensured the residence remained empty until members from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) division of the Canadian Forces attended. The EOD determined the ordnance to be an 18lb Circa World War 2 artillery shell which was confirmed to be deactivated.

The County of Brant OPP would like to once again state that public safety is our primary concern. If you come upon anything that appears to be a military item it is paramount that you do not touch the item and leave the area immediately. Once you and your family are safe contact the police. In cases involving military ordnances it is very difficult to tell if the item has been deactivated or not and must be dealt with by experts.

Anyone with information regarding any incident should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1 – 888 – 310 – 1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1 – 800 – 222 – 8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous online message at www.helpsolvecrime.com where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
