(WAWA, ON) – On May 9, 2015 at approximately 5:15 pm members of the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 17 South of the town of Wawa regarding a possible impaired driver.
At approximately 5:50 pm, while on patrol officers observed the motor vehicle in question on Highway 17 approximately 50 Kilometers South of Wawa.
Investigation revealed that the male driver had been drinking.
As a result Kevin CORMIER (45) of Kitchener Ontario was charged with the following offences;
– Driving While Ability Impaired-Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) CCC
– Driving with more than 80 mgs of Alcohol in blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
– Possession of a Schedule II Substance- Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.
A 90-day driver’s licence suspension was issued and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The accused was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Wawa on July 13, 2015.
