(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON)–Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was busy over the Victoria Day Long Weekend keeping our roadways safe. Through proactive patrol and enforcement, the OPP raised awareness surrounding the “Big Four” major causes of death and injuries on our Ontario roadways; impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving and failure to wear or improper use of seatbelts. The results from the weekend enforcement are;
•158 Speeding Charges
•5 Seatbelt Charges
•3 Distracted Driving Charges
•3 Impaired Drivers
•3 Careless Driving
The Victoria Day Long Weekend always brings a higher volume of traffic on our roadways, trails and waterways. Wellington County OPP Detachment Commander Scott Lawson says, Officers were highly visible educating and enforcing provincial and federal legislation”. There were 6 collisions investigated
