(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – On June 10, 2015 at approximately 00:51 a.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Region Highway Enforcement Team (HET) observed a possible impaired driver northbound on Montgomery Road near Bradley Avenue, in the City of London, Ontario.
The 52 year old male driver was operating an orange Jinhualuyuan e-bike, which had been modified with removal of the pedals.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and determined that the male had been drinking alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath testing, which revealed he had consumed more than twice the legal limit of alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Paul SHUART, from London, Ontario has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to appear in a London court to answer to the charges on August 13, 2015.
