Mazda Collides With Group Of Motorcyclists – Two Pronounced Dead At Scene

(Prince Edward County, ON)—On June 20, 2015 at 2.25 pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment were called to a multi-vehicle collision on the Loyalist Parkway at Stapleton Road. A group of eight motorcycles were traveling eastbound on the Loyalist Parkway when a westbound Mazda Miata crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with three of the eight motorcycles.

Two motorcycle riders Darren Philip WILLIAMS, 46, of Quinte West and‎ Edgar Wayne BOONE, 58, of Ottawa were pronounced dead at the scene. Three (3) others, the male driver, 83 and female passenger, 80, both of Brighton from the Mazda Miata and another male, motorcycle rider, 65 of Sydenham were transported with serious to life-threatening injuries to hospital.

Assisting members of the Prince Edward detachment were the Prince Edward County Fire Department, Quinte Hastings Paramedic Services and the OPP Technical Collision Investigators.

The Investigation is continuing.‎
