(Prince Edward County, ON)— On June 19, 2015 at 7:43pm an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment attempted to stop a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Main St., Bloomfield. The suspect vehicle fled from police.
At 8:43pm OPP located the suspect vehicle traveling on County Road 14, in the Ward of Sophiasburgh. OPP followed the fleeing suspect vehicle which entered onto Big Island. OPP contained the area and with the assistance of the OPP Canine and Emergency Response Team (ERT) officers searched the area.
On the June 20, at 8:30am OPP received reports of a suspicious male on foot in the area of County Road 21/Big Island.
With the public’s assistance, police located and arrested the male suspect nearby on Gommorah Rd.
A 19-year old male, Lonnie HERRINGTON, of Belleville is charged with the following offences:
Operation While Disqualified, contrary to Section 259(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Breach of Probation, contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Flight From Peace Officer, contrary to Section 249.1(1), contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused was later released from police custody on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton on July 22, 2015.
SUSPICIOUS SCHOOL INCIDENT BEING INVESTIGATED BY OPP
(Prince Edward County, ON)— On June 18, 2015 at 3:13pm the Ontario Provincial Police Prince Edward County detachment received a report of a suspicious person near CML Snider School, Wellington.
Earlier that afternoon, students were participating in a Primary Play Day on the school grounds. A man was observed nearby taking photographs of the children. When confronted the male left.
OPP are looking to identify the male who is described as 50-60 years of age, average build, tanned complexion, spoke with an accent, had salt and pepper hair colour and was wearing khaki shorts and black t-shirt.
The male left the area of the school driving a Toyota Matrix grey or silver in colour.
