(Prince Edward County, ON)— On June 26, at 7:01pm officers with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment responded to a call of a robbery at The Loonie Bin store located on Main St., Picton. The police investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the store, consumed a beverage and proceeded to leave without paying for it. As the suspect was leaving he was confronted by a store employee. The suspect brandished a weapon and left. The suspect then returned to the store as police arrived. The suspect was arrested and the weapon seized at the scene.
A 14-year old male from Picton is charged with the following offences:
Assault with a Weapon, contrary to Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Theft, contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Weapon-Possession for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was held in police custody to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton ON on June 27, 2015.
His name is not being released according to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
