(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls over this past weekend, here are some examples:
July 17:
– Police were called to a Cramahe Twp home when an ex-partner entered the home and removed a dog. Investigation ongoing
– At 8:58am an officer measured a westbound Acura traveling 152 km/h on Hwy 401 in the Colborne area. The 18 yr old Richmond Hill driver was charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed and lost his car and licence for 7 days
– A First St resident attended the Campbellford detachment at 11:28am to report hearing a gunshot at 9:30pm last night. Officers were unable to conduct a meaningful investigation due to the time delay of reporting the incident
– An alert Brighton senior reported receiving a message to call ‘a policeman and a lawyer’. She believed it to be a “grandparent scam” and didn’t speak to them. No further calls were received.
– Officers attended a Cramahe Twp residence when an ex-girlfriend of the homeowner visited the property. The current girlfriend was arrested for Mischief Under $5,000 after breaking a window in the truck of the visitor. The 41 yr old woman was subsequently released with an impending court date.
July 18:
– 911 call to a Campbellford residence at 1:05am where a mother and daughter were arguing. Alcohol consumption by the entire family was a contributing factor to the disturbance. Father and daughter left for the night. No criminal charges.
– A seasonal property owner on Oriole Beach Rd in Hamilton Twp reported the theft of his marine battery from his boat sometime this past week.
– A ‘process server’ reported being pushed while serving documents at a Port Hope residence. Officers cautioned the person responsible, no charges resulted
– 911 dialed accidentally by Campbellford Hospital staff causing an officer to respond
– An intoxicated resident in Colborne dialed 911 to inquire if the persons responsible for her scooter being stolen have been found. She was provided with an update and cautioned for misuse of the emergency line
– Noise complaints regarding loud parties in Port Hope, Seymour Twp (x2) and Brighton
July 19:
– Noise complaints (loud parties) continued in Hamilton Twp and Brighton
– Residential alarm at a Hamilton Twp home at 3:28am. Officers found the home to be secure and no-one home
– Commercial alarm at a Colborne business at 5:47am. Officers found the premises to be secure
– Residential alarm at a Brighton home at 6:22am. Police were cancelled by the homeowner prior to arrival
– Two separate reports of tires being slashed on County Rd 45 and Hutsell Rd in the Baltimore area overnight. One complainant suspected that sugar was also put in their gas tanks. Investigation ongoing
– At 9:18pm police responded to a domestic dispute at a Seymour Twp home. As a result of the investigation, a 20 yr old woman was charged with domestic assault. She was released with an impending court date.
Northumberland OPP also conducted three RIDE programs, investigated eight motor vehicle collisions and 39 traffic related complaints.
