Stormont Dundas Press Releases

(North Dundas) – On July 15, 2015 at approximately 4:29pm, Stormont Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of an enclosed trailer taken from a property on Merkley Road, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that overnight (July 14-15, 2015) a 16’ White “PACE” enclosed cargo trailer with Tandem Axle was stolen.

On July 25, 2015 SD&G OPP officers recovered the trailer from an address on Dickinson Drive, South Stormont. Investigation revealed it was left their sometime overnight July 24-25, 2015.

Investigation continues.

THEFT OF BOAT

(South Glengarry) – On July 24, 2015 at approximately 11:51pm, SD&G OPP responded to a report of the theft of a Boat from a property on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that sometime between (July 17-24, 2015) a 14 foot Fiber glass Green and White “Codomate” Fishing Boat was taken.

An Investigation continues.

WEAPON SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(South Stormont) – On June 24, 2015 at approximately 7:34pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Long Sault Parkway, South Stormont Township. The investigation revealed an adult male was in possession of a Prohibited weapon.

The male driver, Youcef MIRI (43) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and charged with;

– Transport Firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner

– Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 8, 2015.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(North Dundas) – On July 25, 2015 at approximately 12:16am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on County Road 43, North Dundas Township. The investigation revealed that the adult female driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Sarah HEARD (29) of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on August 4, 2015.

DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(South Dundas) – On July 25, 2015 at approximately 6:14am, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Dundas Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana, Cocaine and Fentanyl.

The female driver, Kyla FITZGERALD (20) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (3 counts)

– Traffic in a Controlled Substance

The male passenger, Cohan MOODY (40) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and charged with:

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (3 counts)

– Traffic in a Controlled Substance

Both were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on September 1, 2015.

IMPAIRED DRIVER OF A STOLEN VEHICLE

(North Dundas) – On July 26, 2015 at approximately 7:57am SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle on Main Street in Chesterville, Ontario. The investigation revealed that a GMC Truck had been taken from McEwan’s gas Station while the owner entered the store. Shortly thereafter Police located the vehicle and the driver. The adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Devyn MCNEIL (21) of Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Theft over $5000 of a Motor Vehicle

– Possession of Property obtained by Crime – Over $5000

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on September 1, 2015.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(South Glengarry) – Over the past weekend, SD&G and Highway Safety Division (HSD) OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement on Highway 401 intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– July 26, 2015/South Glengarry – 5:07m; vehicle stopped travelling 154km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (24) from Haldimand County, Ontario charged accordingly.

– July 26, 2015/South Glengarry – 7:14pm; vehicle stopped travelling 158km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (19) from Peterborough, Ontario charged accordingly
