(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP, ON) Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to assist with a marine incident which took place off Beausoleil Island.
On the 12th of August 2015 shortly before 2:00pm, officers were called in regards to a 14 year-old youth at a summer camp that was operating a sail boat off of Beausoleil Island. This sail boat capsized and in the process, the youth became tangled in the rigging for the sails which resulted in him being held under water.
Staff members on scene immediately came to his aid, brought him out of the water and began CPR and chest compressions which resulted in the youth regaining consciousness. He was then transported back to the main land where he was subsequently air lifted to an area hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
