On Thursday August 13, 2015 Waterloo Regional Police hosted a Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Initiative at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium located at 400 East Avenue in the City of Kitchener. This was a multiple jurisdiction event involving officers from five municipal police services as well as officers from the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Finance. As a result of the initiative: 68 Level 1 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance(CVSA) Inspections were completed on vehicles weighing over 4500 Kilograms, with 16 placed Out of Service, 43 charges laid and 2 sets of licence plates removed. Also 11 Level 1 CVSA Inspections were completed on vehicles weighing less than 4500 Kilograms with 9 being taken out of service, 33 charges laid and 1 set of licence plates removed. There were 2 tobacco seizures, 1 fuel charge and 4 Environmental charges laid.
