Erin Nicole SMITH – 102 In A 50

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment have charged a 28 year old female after police stopped a motor vehicle at a Cockshutt Road, Townsend, Ontario address.

On Sunday, August 16, 2015 at approximately 11:21 a.m., police observed a motor vehicle that appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on Cockshutt Road. The motor vehicle ran through radar and recorded a reading of 102 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged 28-year-old Erin Nicole SMITH of Brant County, Ontario with driving over the legal limit and stunt driving.

“There will be zero tolerance for motorists driving aggressively, impaired by drugs or alcohol, distracted drivers or those who fail to buckle up. Driving safety is everyone’s responsibility and it starts before the vehicle is put into drive” comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Brant County OPP.

OPP are reminding all motorists that the minimum fine for Stunt Driving, if convicted is $2,000 and an automatic drivers licence suspension for 7 days.

She is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe, Ontario at a later date to answer to the charges.

“It’s these types of actions that cause injury and death on our roadways!” comments Inspector Zvonko Horvat, Norfolk County OPP Detachment Commander.
