(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 253 calls for service during the previous week, including family disputes, bail violations and impaired drivers.
Domestic Disputes
Renfrew OPP officers attended nine domestic disputes during the past week. One male was charged with assault, and one investigation is continuing. Impaired Driver
On Thursday August 13 at approximately 5:55pm OPP officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in a black car leaving Arnprior on White Lake Road. The vehicle was located on Ninth Concession Road and the male driver had been drinking. He refused to provide a sample of his breath. Wayne THOMPSON 61 of Mississippi Mills Township was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample, and driving a motor vehicle with open alcohol. He was released on an appearance notice for court in Renfrew on September 16. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days, and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. Provincial Constable Denys Baranovskiy led the investigation.
On Friday August 13 at 12:04am OPP officers responded to a report of an impaired driver on James Street in Arnprior. Provincial Constable Tamara Dube located and arrested a male driver who had been drinking. A 17-year-old male from Ottawa was charged after providing breath samples at the detachment. He was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs. Under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act he cannot be identified. He was released from custody on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on September 23.
Bail Violations
On Tuesday August 11 OPP officers responded to a report of a male breaching a condition of his bail release to abstain from consuming alcohol. Officers located the male in a residence in Horton Township an intoxicated state and arrested him. Richard Tomothy PERRY was held in custody for a bail hearing on August 12. He remains in custody. Provincial Constable Jodi Burns investigated.
On Sunday August 16 OPP officers warned a 15-year-old male for a bail violation. The male was refusing to abide by house rules, a condition of his bail release. After a conversation with police the male agreed to be amenable to house rules. No charge was laid.
A warning was issued to a second 15-year-old male in Arnprior for not abiding by house rules which is a condition of his bail. The male’s father phoned police after several house rules were broken. A warning was issued.
Break and Enter
A cottage on Lookout Road in Whitewater Region was broken into and a 1972 white Yamaha snowmobile. It was removed from an unlocked shed and has the registration number 508374 on the side. Provincial Constable Joel Cobb is investigating.
The County of Renfrew Public Works garage on Main Street in Cobden was entered and a truck opened. The culprit damaged two radio mics and smashed some beer bottles in the area. The damage occurred overnight on Saturday August 15. Provincial Constable Kyle Mask investigated.
