Douglas WITMER – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On August 23, 2015 at approximately 1:41 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Enforcement Team (HET) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401 eastbound, near Dorchester Road.

Officers determined that the driver of the black Volkswagen car had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”.

The male was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath testing.

As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Douglas WITMER, from Waterloo, Ontario, has been charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear, and is scheduled to appear in a London court to answer to the charge on October 1, 2015.
