Viateur Sylvio L’HEUREUX – Trafficking

(PEMBROKE, ON) – On September 7, 2015 a member of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 17 near the Town of Petawawa. In the area of Paquette Road on Highway 17, a Ford Mustang was located speeding above the posted limit. The vehicle was stopped and the officer detected a strong odour of marihuana coming from the vehicle. Subsequent investigation led to police seizing approximately 18 pounds of marihuana and approximately 1 pound of psilocybin from the vehicle. An undisclosed amount of Canadian currency was also seized.

As a result 59 year old Viateur Sylvio L’HEUREUX of Notre Dame Du Nord, Quebec was charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

· Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana Over 3kg – for the Purpose of Trafficking

· Possession of a Schedule III Substance – Psilocybin – for the Purpose of Trafficking

L’HEUREUX was also charged under the Criminal Code for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000. He was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.

He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with Stunt Driving and for driving without a license. He was served a summons to appear on October 19, 2015 at the Ontario Provincial Offences Court in Pembroke for the HTA charges.
