(INGERSOLL, ON.) – On September 17, 2015 at 5:50 p.m. Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the report of a robbery at The Independent Grocer located on King Street West in The Town of Ingersoll.
A lone male entered the store shortly before 5:20 p.m. where he proceeded to place several items in his cart. The suspect then left the store without paying for the items. Employees of the store followed the suspect and made contact with him in the parking lot and he was asked to return to the store. The male then produced a knife and threatened the two employees. The suspect then fled to a vehicle. While leaving the area, the suspect vehicle struck a parked car can continue to flee. The suspect and vehicle were last seen on Whiting Street. No injuries occurred in the robbery.
OPP advise that on September 20, 2015 the male suspect in this incident was located and arrested without incident. The male, 29-year-old Tyler BINNS of Woodstock has been charged with the following:
· Theft Under $5,000 – Shoplifting
· Robbery with a Weapon
· Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
· Escape Lawful Custody
· Fail to Comply with Probation order
The Male was held in custody for a bail hearing on September 21, 2015.
