(FISHER TOWNSHIP, ON) – At approximately 5:30 p.m. on September 24, 2015 Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information from the Edmonton Police Service regarding the safety of two young children ages one and three traveling in a vehicle with an adult male and female. The involved vehicle was located by OPP in Batachewana Bay Provincial Park.
With the assistance of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Emergency Response Unit (ESU), and Canine Unit, and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Sudbury Canine Unit the two children were apprehended without incident.
The male, 38 years, from Edmonton, Alberta was arrested and charged with two counts of Breach of Recognizance as per 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing September 25, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie.
