Here are a few ways for everyone to stay safe in the bush this fall.
• Wear hunter orange, even if you are just out for a walk in the bush it is always safest to wear bright orange for everyone to see
• Always tell someone where you are going and when you plan on returning and if you get lost stay where you are until help arrives
• Always bring extra food, a cell phone, a first aid kit and matches with you when hiking in the bush
• Hunters must ensure all documents and permits are up to date.
• Do not trespass on someone’s property, always ask permission to be on someone else’s property
• If you are using a motor vehicle and have firearms, they must be unloaded in the vehicle.
• Respect everyone in the bush, hunters have a legal right to hunt, fish or trap wildlife, but must also be respectful of others enjoying the bush.
Almaguin Highlands OPP would like everyone to enjoy the beauty of our countryside but do it safely.
