Names Released In Tragic Collision That Claimed Life Of Toddler

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers investigated a fatal motor two vehicle collision which occurred around 7pm, October 7th, 2015.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Ron McNeil Line and Yarmouth Centre Road, Central Elgin. A grey Chevy pick-up truck was travelling south on Yarmouth Centre Road when the driver failed stop at the stop sign at Yarmouth Centre Road and Ron McNeil Line and collided with a silver Dodge SUV that was eastbound on Ron McNeil Line. The pickup struck the SUV broadside (t-boned) causing both vehicles to travel into the South East ditch.

Central Elgin Fire and EMS were on scene.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 68-year-old male, Robert DUNCAN, from Malahide Township, Ontario, was transported to hospital, where he remains listed in stable condition.

The driver of the SUV, a 35-year-old female, Valerie HURLEY, from London, Ontario, was transported to hospital, where she remains listed in serious condition.

A 33-year-old male, John TREMBLETT, from London, Ontario, seated in the rear seat on the passenger side of the SUV, was transported to hospital, where he remains listed in critical condition.

A 4-month old male infant, Carstyn TREMBLETT, from London, Ontario, was in a rear facing car seat in the back seat of the SUV behind the driver. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, and later succumbed to his injuries.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Yarmouth Centre Line at Ron McNeil Road was closed until approximately 11:59 p.m. Traffic was re-routed around the area until it was reopened.

The Elgin County OPP, with assistance from the OPP Criminal Investigation Bureau, continues to investigate this incident. Charges are pending.
