(HURON EAST, ON) – An early morning traffic stop has led to the arrest and subsequent charge of a male driver from Brussels. At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2015 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Chevrolet sports utility vehicle travelling northbound on Turnberry Street in Brussels.
A traffic stop was conducted and while speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 36-year-old Scott CLARKSON from Brussels has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham on November 19, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
