(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have charged a 22-year-old from Goderich with an Over 80 offence following a traffic stop on Sunday, October 18, 2015. Shortly before 11:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers received a call for assistance about a possible impaired driver that was travelling on Suncoast Drive in Goderich. A few minutes later Huron OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle, a Honda Civic, travelling eastbound on Suncoast Drive.
A traffic stop was conducted and upon speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 22-year-old Matthew ROUNDS from Goderich has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on November 16, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
