20 Year Old Killed In Collision Near Walkerton

(MUNICIPALITY OF BROCKTON, ON) – South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of the OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI), is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred early this morning in the Municipality of Brockton.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015, South Bruce OPP, together with Walkerton Fire Department and Emergency Services from Bruce and Grey Counties, responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Durham Street East in Walkerton, in the Municipality of Brockton.

Preliminary investigation has determined that the driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicle was travelling westbound on Durham Street East. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a light standard on the north side of the road then continued down a steep embankment before coming to a rest on its side in the Saugeen River.

A passenger inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by the attending Coroner. The deceased has been identified as 20-year old Bradley STRADER, of Walkerton.

The driver and 5 other passengers, 4 males and a female, all in their 20’s, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Durham Street East remains closed between Ontario Street and McNab Street for the safety of Emergency Responders until further notice.

The investigation is in its early stages. An updated media release to be issued once accurate and confirmed information is known.
