(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment arrested three individuals over the weekend for drinking and driving related criminal offences.
The first arrested was Friday October 23, just before 10pm. A vehicle was initially stopped for speeding on Highway 7 east of Omemee. The driver was found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage. Charged with Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood Contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) is 61 year old, Michael BERNACKI, of Omemee. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on November 12, 2015.
The second person arrested was on Saturday October 24, at approximately 5:30pm. OPP responded to a driving complaint on Highway 35 south of Lindsay. When the vehicle was located and stopped the driver was found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage. Charged with Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood Contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the CCC is Jennifer METCALF, 42 years of age, of Oshawa. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on November 19, 2015.
The third person arrested occurred on Saturday October 24, at approximately 9:30pm. The OPP was alerted to suspicious persons in the Oakwood area. The person and vehicle was located and the driver was found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage. Charged with Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Alcohol Contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the CCC and Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood Contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the CCC is 49 year old Colin HORSFALL of Little Britain. The accused appeared in bail court on October 25, 2015.
