(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – On October 3, 2015, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Victoria Street.
That evening, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Oneida of the Thames First Nation Police observed the vehicle on Middlemiss Drive, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Ontario. Officers initiated a traffic stop, but the driver failed to stop for police.
The vehicle, a white Chevrolet pickup truck, was driven toward the officers’ vehicle, and then left the area.
As a result of the subsequent police investigation, criminal charges have been laid.
22-year-old Darryl STURGEON, from Southwest Middlesex, Ontario, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, driving while disqualified – court order, fail to comply with recognizance, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight while pursued by peace officer, and assault a peace officer with a weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was held in custody, and is scheduled to appear in a London court to answer the charges on October 28, 2015.
