BC Man Charged With Trafficking – $400,000 Drug Bust

(MARATHON ON.) –On Sunday November 1st, 2015, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon detachment observed a light colored Minivan traveling east at a high rate of speed on Highway 17, Lecours Township, east of Marathon.

Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and while speaking to the driver, the officer observed items consistent with drug usage within the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle incident to arrest revealed that the male had approximately 15kg of raw cannabis marihuana as well as a large amount of edible marihuana products. No exact street value is available at this time but police estimate the value to be approximately $400,000.

The accused, Steven CHURCHILL, a 50 year old male from Surrey, BC. was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking X 2 as well as 2 Highway Traffic Act charges.

The male was released from custody on bail with a return court date of December 16, 2015 in Marathon in relation to the charge
