(GRAVENHURST, ON) – On Thursday November 12th, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. while conducting routine traffic duties, an officer from the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment stopped a vehicle on Bethune Drive south being operated by driver with a G1 licence. As a part of Ontario’s Graduated Licencing System, G1 drivers must abide by several conditions including having a qualified accompanying driver in the vehicle and having a blood alcohol concentration of zero.
The officer conducted an investigation into the circumstances and subsequently arrested and charged 49 year-old Gordon MCARTHUR of Gravenhurst with Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample CC 254(5) along with several highway traffic act violations relating to his G1 status. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 8th, 2015 to answer to his charges. The accused received an immediate 90 day driver’s licence suspension and further had his vehicle towed and impounded.
