(PEMBROKE, ON) – On November 17, 2015 an officer from the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in Laurentian Valley Township for a cell phone violation. Further investigation by the officer determined that the adult male driver was in possession of drugs and breaching his probation order. As a result 23 year-old Ethan JENNINGS of Sheenboro, Que has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with Failing to Comply with his Probation Order. He was also charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) for Possession of Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana. He was released on a Promise To Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 15, 2015.
On November 18, 2015 officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in the City of Pembroke on a suspended driver. Further investigation revealed the adult female driver was in possession of drugs and breaching her recognizance conditions. As a result 31 year old Kelly Joanne GURNEY of Pembroke has been charged under the Criminal Code with two counts of Failing to Comply with her Recognizance. She was also charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) for:
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
· Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana
She was held for a bail hearing on November 19 and subsequently released on a Recognizance of Bail with a court date of December 1, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. She was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for Driving While Suspended and her vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
