Barrie Police arrested a 64-year old female for impaired operation of a motor vehicle after she was involved in a minor MVC and was found to be intoxicated. Once transported to the station, she refused to provide a breath sample. She was subsequently charged with the refusal. Her vehicle was impounded and her license was suspended for 90 days. She will appear in court on July 6th.

A 25-year old female, who recently moved to Barrie, attended Barrie Police and reported that she was assaulted by her boyfriend in their residence during a disagreement. She alleged that during the assault the boyfriend pushed her face into the bed so she could not breathe. She eventually broke free and fled the residence with her infant to seek assistance at the police station. It was found during the initial investigation that the boyfriend was also wanted in Quebec on a warrant for Assault Cause Bodily Harm. Investigators attended the residence and arrested the boyfriend for domestic assault. He was transported to Barrie Police where he was processed and held for bail on June 22.

Barrie Police received information that a wanted male and female may be at a west end hotel. Officers attended the hotel and determined the wanted persons were present on the property. They were located and were arrested on the authority of the warrant. As a result of the arrest, officers located cocaine, heroin, a replica handgun and over $2000 in cash. Both were transported to the station where they were processed and held for bail on June 22. Charges for both include: Obstruct Police, Possession of a Controlled Substance X 2, Fail to Comply with Probation, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

While on patrol in the downtown core an officer came across a 44-year old male in a very intoxicated state in the area of Barrie Central Collegiate.
Due to his state of intoxication in the middle of the day, the male was arrested for his safety and transported to the station where he was held until sober.

A 50-year old female was arrested the night of June 20th, for being intoxicate in public and released from custody this morning once she was sober.
Less than 8 hours later, officers arrested the same female again in the area of Bayfield Mall for being intoxicated in public after receiving complaints from the public concerned for her safety.
The female was extremely intoxicated and was transported to the station where she was held…again…until sober.

About 0040hrs on Saturday 20th June 2015 a group of 5 teenagers were approached and attacked on the St Vincent bridge, Barrie by 5 males and 2 females who were carrying weapons. One of the males had a knife and stabbed 2 of the teenagers causing minor puncture wounds, others had expandable batons which they used to strike the teenagers.
The male with the knife is described as a white male, approximately 17 years of age, about 6’ in height and slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a black hat with possibly a “bolt” motif.
A second suspect is described as a white male, approximately 18 years of age, about 5’9 and medium build with short bright red hair.
A third suspect is described as a black male, late teens with short black afro hair and wearing a bracelet.
A female suspect is described as about 18 years having long brown hair in a pony tail and wearing glasses.
The victims are being treated for minor injuries at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

Barrie Police responded to a call for assistance at a south end business on Barrie View Drive after a male caused panic when he assaulted another male while in the store for no apparent reason. When officers arrived on scene they located the 36-year-old suspect within the vicinity of where the assault took place and arrested the male for assault.
The male was transported to Barrie Police to be processed on the charge. Due to the criminal history of the accused, he was held pending a bail hearing on June 20th.

Downtown Officers dealt with a suspicious male at Heritage Park during the afternoon of June 19th. A check of the 29-year old male determined that he was breaching a previous court release. A search of the male as a result of his arrest also turned up some narcotics.
The male was transported to Barrie Police where he was processed and charged with breaching his undertaking and possession of a controlled substance.
He will appear in bail court tomorrow.
