The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 110 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrants CK15019397
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on outstanding warrants for breach of probation and failing to attend court.
Just before noon yesterday, officers located the man on Metcalfe Avenue near St. John Street in Dresden. The 26-year-old Dresden man was taken into custody and held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Charged with Failing to Comply CK15019374
On June 29, 2015 the woman was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was to abide by a daily curfew of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Yesterday, police received information that the woman did not return home the night of June 30, 2015. Shortly after 8:00 p.m. last night, officers located the woman on Adelaide Street near King Street. The 35-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
London Man Charged with Breaching his Curfew CK15019470
On June 25, 2015 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to abide by a daily curfew of 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Last night around 10:40 p.m. officers noticed a large number of people in the driveway of a residence on Lorne Avenue in Chatham. Through investigation, police located the man and he was taken into custody. The 27-year-old London man has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Youth Charged with Assault CK15019483
Just before 1:00 a.m. this morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment in Chatham. Upon arrival, officers observed a large group of tenants standing outside the building as the fire alarm was sounding. Through investigation, officers learned that the girl had gotten into a verbal and physical altercation with her boyfriend and pulled the fire alarm. The Chatham-Kent Fire Department attended to reset the alarms.
The 16-year-old Dover Township girl has been charged with assault and false alarm of fire. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of July 24, 2015.
Woman Charged with Failing to Comply with Breath Demand CK15019465
Around 10:00 p.m. last night, an officer on general patrol observed the woman driving on Richmond Street. It appeared as though her male passenger was yelling at her, so the officer initiated a traffic stop on Harvey Street to further investigate. Upon speaking with the woman, the officer suspected she was driving while under the influence of alcohol and a roadside test was administered.
The 38-year-old Chatham woman failed to provide a suitable sample of her breath into the device and was charged accordingly. Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. She was released pending a future court date of July 15, 2015.
Traffic Enforcement CK15019396
Around 11:15 a.m. yesterday morning, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Albert Street in Wallaceburg. The officer believed the driver may be unlicensed and initiated a traffic stop on Reaume Avenue to further investigate. The driver was found to be suspended due to unpaid fines. The 28-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with driving while under suspension and failing to have insurance.
