(TAY TWONSHIP, ON) – Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Tay Township Fire are investigating the suspicious dumping of approximately 4 litres of liquid mercury.
On Monday December 7, 2015 at 7:17 p.m. the OPP received a call from a member of the public about a liquid substance that had been disposed of on the shoulder of Duck Bay Road between Quarry Road and Coldwater Road in Tay Township.
The Ministry of the Environment have been called in to assist in the investigation. The area has been cleaned up but further investigation is being done to determine if further clean-up is required.
There are no public safety concerns, but police are asking for anyone with information about who may be responsible for the disposing of this liquid mercury to contact the Southern Georgian Bay OPP at 705-526-3761 or Orillia communications 1-888-310-1122.
