(AMHERSTVIEW, ON)- On Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 5:00 a.m. a two vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Bath Road and Sherwood Ave in Loyalist Township.
Police investigation revealed that a red Dodge pick-up truck travelling westbound on Bath Road failed to stop for the red light at the intersection and struck a white van that was travelling southbound on Sherwood Ave.
The pick-up truck rolled over the embankment on Bath Road.
The driver of the van, a 71 year-old Amherstview man, had to be extricated from his vehicle by Loyalist Township Fire Services. He was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries.
The driver of the pick-up truck was arrested at the scene for impaired driving and transported to Loyalist OPP Detachment for breath tests.
Charged with impaired operation of a motor-vehicle causing bodily harm, and operating a motor vehicle over 80 mgs causing bodily harm is 26 year-old Christopher JONES of Rear Yonge-Escott Township.
JONES was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend Provincial Court in Napanee on December 29th.
