(HALIBURTON, ON) – On January 16, 2016 at approximately 11:22 p.m., members from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol in the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife parking lot when they observed two snowmobiles approaching the police vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed on the North Road trail in the Township of Dysart et al.
Officers stopped the snowmobiles and after speaking to the drivers, it was determined that the one male was found to have been consuming alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Joel BOUGHEN, 21 years old of Bluewater, ON has been charged with the following:
Drive While Impaired by Alcohol Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
Drive with more than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood Section 253(1)(b) CC
The accused was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on March 2, 2016.
