(South Stormont) – On January 21, 2016 at approximately 8:52pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving two (2) tractor-trailer units on Highway 401 eastbound lanes, South Stormont Township (west of Boundary Road).
Investigation indicated that two (2) eastbound tractor-trailer units collided with each other. The driver of one of the vehicles, a 59-year-old male (from Quebec) was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver (male) was not injured. No load spills resulted.
SD&G OPP officers, assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) members continue the investigation. A section of Highway 401 (eastbound lanes only) between McConnell and Boundary Road exits is closed to traffic. Emergency Detour Routes (EDR) are in effect.
